Keira recently did a photoshoot with photographer Simon Annand. An outtake from this shoot was added to the gallery.
As our visitors, Lier and ANonymous pointed out, Simon Annand photographed Keira before a performance of the Misanthrope. It’s for an exhibition of photos of theatre performers getting ready to go on stage.

This is kinda old… but I really didn’t know until now, so I apologize. Found via maigold @ keiradaily. On December 13,2009 there was an article and a new photoshoot with Keira, and more British stars that are on stage at The Sunday Times Magazine. Scans and the article are thanks to Damian’s Dominion.
Hold The Front Stage
Seventy stars. Two photographers. One year of unprecedented success for the British theatre. The Sunday Times Magazine, December 13, 2009
Curtain up
In a year when the world went bust, London theatre has been going boom. More than 3m of us attended plays in the capital alone — 26% more bottoms on seats than the previous year. Crafted by brilliant writers, directors and all-star casts, the play has become the thing. Our remarkable photographs, shot by Harry Borden and Tom Hunter, over two days in the stalls of the Royal Court Theatre, brought together the very best of our theatrical talent for an unprecedented shoot.
Keira Knightley
This is a stage debut for the Hollywood actress (left). But with a playwright mother, Sharman Macdonald, and an actor father, Will Knightley, she’s set to prove theatre is in her blood too.

Keira was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in The Misanthrope. Congratulations Keira!!!
Keira Knightley has been nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in her debut West End stage performance.
The movie star added some much needed mega-wattage to London’s theatre district when she opened in a modern day adaptation of The Misanthrope playing a glamorous Hollywood star.

One of our viewers sent this into us. it’s a video of ‘The Misanthrope’ Press Night on the 17th. The videographer was about to get a get shot of Keira, but did mange to get her and Rupert. Rupert comes first in the video and Keira is the very last.
In my search for a good shot of KK for you dear viewer, I waited at the stage door with a few fans and press in the snow. Damian and Tara were happy to pose but I could not get a good pose from Keira, I even went to the after show party venue, still did not get a good picture of Keira. – Elizabethtoni
Thanks Missty!

The LATimes has an article (along with a new picture taken from their shoot with Keira to promote The Duchess last year) with several quotes of critics saying about Keira’s performace in “The Misanthrope”.
Michael Billington of the Guardian wrote: “Knightley brings to the role fine, sculpted features, palpable intelligence and a nice mix of faux-innocence and flirtiness. Even if she doesn’t always know what to do with her hands, she gives a perfectly creditable performance.”
Charles Spencer of the Daily Telegraph raved about the actress, writing: “This stinging, zinging play would be a hit without Knightley. With her, it becomes unmissable.” He added that “in the early scenes Knightley seems a touch tentative, lacking in both energy and presence. In the second half however, in which she bitchily insults a false friend and has a real humdinger of a row with the jealous Alceste, she reveals both power and poignancy.”
