The 22-year-old actress said that she is not comfortable being photographed.

I’m not comfortable having to be myself, or being photographed as myself,” Daily Express quoted her as saying.

Lohan and Knightley to battle for lead role in ‘Wuthering Heights’

From showbizspy.com:

Hollywood babes Lindsay Lohan and Keira Knightley are reportedly set to fight it out for the lead role in new movie ‘Wuthering Heights’.

The actresses are both vying to play romantic heroine Catherine Earnshaw in the big screen version of Emily Bronte’s classic 1847 novel.

Director John Maybury said: “I certainly wouldn’t count Keira out but it’s whether or not she wants to get back into period costume, because she’s been in a few period dramas.

I don’t count Lindsay Lohan out either. I really believe in the girl and she’s coming out from the other side of her well documented problems - she just needs to be treated seriously.

However, Lindsay’s nationality could go against her.

Maybury added to Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: “It can be slightly annoying having American actresses in British parts. They may be able to do brilliant British accents but that can be off putting if their accent is too perfect.

Lindsay, 21, was set to star alongside Keira in Dylan Thomas biopic ‘The Edge of Love’ - also directed by Maybury - but pulled out at the last minute.

The actress couldn’t get insurance following her high-profile battles with alcohol and drugs, which saw her spend a two-months in rehab last year.

The month before pulling out of the film, Lindsay had been arrested for DUI and cocaine possession.

Keira’s pliable balancing act

From tonight.co.za:

‘She walked into the audition room and oozed youthful vitality and confidence much like the character I wanted her to play. She was a delight to work with from start to finish and, from what I know, has remained very grounded, much like she was then,” the writer-director Gurinder Chadha reflects on her first encounter with Keira Knightley, in the run-up to Bend It Like Beckham (2002), the film that made Knightley a star.

It is only five years since Knightley, then 17, played Jules Paxton, the ebullient and instantly likeable player for the Hounslow Harriers. By her own admission, her performance wasn’t especially polished. Although she had been acting since she was a child, she hadn’t been to drama school.

From angelcitysdevil.com:

Gay Brits have voted online for “the major British stars I would most love a dream date with”, and the results are in. Of gay men, 31% have voted Daniel Craig as their ideal celebrity date, while 35% of lesbians craved Keira Knightley. Rounding out the list were James McAvoy, Jude Law and Ewan McGregor (with 18%, 13% and 12%, respectively), and Kate Winslett, Rachel Wiesz and Helena Bonham Carter (with 26%, 13% and 12%, respectively).

Craig and Knightley’s placement at the top of gays and lesbians hearts in Britian is perhaps due to the stars’ portrayals in film. Daniel Craig has played the role of a gay man before in the film ‘Love is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon’, and has hinted at the possibility of gay romps in the upcoming James Bond: 007 franchise. Knightley also has an upcoming gay role in the biopic of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, scheduled for release this Spring.

From CiN Spin:

Keira in AtonementKeira Knightley…does the name ring a bell? Think Best Picture Academy Award-nominee Atonement. Now do you recall who I’m talking about?

If you do, then you’ll soon find out that her green evening dress worn in Atonement will be auctioned off in an online auction by the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation beginning tomorrow, Friday February 1 until Saturday March 1.

Bidding starts at $1,000 for the emerald backless dress seen in the movie’s romantic sequences. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Variety-The Children’s Charity of Southern California.

The fragile dress is one of quite a few designed specifically for Keira Knightley and authenticated by Academy Award-nominee for costume design, Jacqueline Durran. I haven’t seen the film yet, but the dress is beautiful enough for me to look into all this fuss and finally check out the movie for myself.

Interested in having a taste of Hollywood by adding this dress to your wardrobe collection? Learn more about the auction and also how the entertainment and fashion communities come together every year for charity auctions of celebrity attire by visiting the Clothes Off Our Back website.

From Metro.co.uk:

Teachers at Keira Knightley’s former high school are so gutted by the actress’ Oscar snub they have clubbed together to send her a BAFTAs good luck card.

Searching for signatures to drop off at the 22-year-old’s parent’s house, a teacher at the Teddington School said of the Atonement star: ‘We have kindly made a card to send to Keira Knightley, congratulating her on being nominated for a BAFTA for Atonement.’

‘We are disappointed that she missed out on an Oscar nomination. I know lots of the staff, who were here when she was a pupil, have very fond memories of her.

No Comedies for Keira Knightley

From hollyscoop.com:

Keira Knightley won’t be making us laugh anytime soon. The star insists she is “too dark” to ever pull off a comedy flick.

She said, “I always say I’ve no interest in doing a comedy because I don’t watch very many. But actually I think I am lying because the other day I saw Blades of Glory and thought it was brilliant. I’m too dark in my soul to ever do a comedic role. I’m afraid I’d make a fool of myself.

Isn’t the point of doing a cheesy comedy to make a fool out of yourself a little and let loose? I’d love to see her take on a role like that, she’s too serious.

Keira’s country retreat

December 19 2007

From telegraph.co.uk

Keira Knightley has never attempted to mask her loathing for the British press. So it comes as no surprise to hear that she is quitting London to settle down away from prying eyes in the countryside with lover Rupert Friend.

The actress, who is tipped to be nominated for an Oscar for her role in Atonement, said she despises the showbiz lifestyle to such an extent that, in the same fashion as host of other celebrities including Kate Moss and Billie Piper, she has decided to buy a bolthole in the country.

“I’m moving out of the centre so that I can lead a more domestic life,” she explains.

“I want to have local things like shops and nice pubs. Central London is just too busy. I am also not a very sociable person,” she added.

“I went to the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party and just stood in the corner drinking champagne. Honestly, I don’t like parties very much. I have very few real friends in showbusiness so it’s really not my crowd.”

One can only hope that Knightley doesn’t chose to house hunt in Gloucestershire, the focal point of the showbiz mass exodus.

From New York Post

Keira in Atonement DESIGN house Faviana has competitors green with envy over its “must-have” Keira Knightley emerald-green gown from her new film, “Atonement.”

The couture dress, which cost tens of thousands of dollars to create, was highlighted last week in The Post’s Pulse section.

Then Knightley won a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. So now the designers at Faviana are banking on selling thousands of knockoffs of the 1930s-inspired gown, to be in stores mid-January priced at $238.
