Keira drifts from Sienna

From iafrica.com:

Keira Knightley admits she has lost touch with her ‘The Edge Of Love’ co-star, Sienna Miller.

The 23-year-old actress, who plays Vera Phillips in the World War II drama about Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, claims that her and Sienna, who took on the role of Thomas’ wife Caitlin MacNamara in the movie, have drifted apart since the film’s production was finished.

She explained in The Daily Express: “I love Sienna. I think she’s a wonderful actress but we’ve been like two ships passing in the night recently.

I think that’s what’s lovely but also sad about acting. You get incredibly close to people and as soon as it’s over, you don’t see each other.

You’re away from home, it’s a very intense relationship and then it’s not there anymore.

Knightley, whose latest film ‘The Duchess’ is due for release on 12 September, recently confessed that she finds it difficult to maintain friendships with females.

She said in Glamour magazine: “I don’t think I’m very good at figuring out female friendships. I think they’re quite tricky to navigate.

I have lots of friends who are guys and I find that manipulation and jealousy don’t come into it as much, whereas those things can happen easily between women.

KNIGHTLEY GOT DRUNK FOR MY FAIR LADY AUDITION

Keira Knightley won her lead part in the forthcoming MY FAIR LADY remake by arriving at the audition drunk.
The British actress was so anxious about meeting theatre impresario Cameron MACkintosh to try out for the part, she turned to alcohol to calm her nerves.
She recalls, “It was in front of Cameron himself, so the only option was to get drunk. I probably did slur my words - I can’t remember.”
But the tactic appeared to work - as Knightley was subsequently cast as Eliza Doolittle, the flower girl made famous by Audrey Hepburn, opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in a updated version of the 1964 musical .

I miss not having a university education, reveals Keira Knightley

2 AUGUST 2008

There’s only one thing British beauty Keira Knightley says is missing in her life – a university education.

The Edge Of Love star left school when she was 17 to pursue her stunning career on the silver screen. And that, says the modest 23-year-old, has left her feeling “completely uneducated”.

“Not going to university did give me an incredible driving force,” the actress told Tatler magazine. “It makes me feel I am going to read absolutely everything so I can prove that I am not stupid.”

To expand her knowledge, the Oscar-nominated star has thrown herself into books. Her current reading list includes the works of Mary Wollstonecroft, a history of the Vietnam War and Germaine Greer’s iconic work The Female Eunich.

Next seen on the silver screen in The Duchess, Keira is already being tipped for another Acadamy Award nomination for her performance as Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire. She has also signed on to play Cordelia in a film adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear alongside Welsh icon Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomi Watts.

Keira, the second highest-paid Hollywood actress

From The Press Association:

Keira Knightley was the second highest-paid Hollywood actress last year, a study by US business magazine Forbes has showed.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star earned 32 million dollars (£16 million) through her roles in the Pirates sequel At World’s End and in the Oscar-nominated literary romance Atonement.

But the 23-year-old Briton, whose racy ads for Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle perfume also brought in the cash, was beaten to the top spot by Cameron Diaz, who earned 50 million dollars (£25 million) for her roles in Shrek and What Happens In Vegas.

Sienna Miller: ‘Keira Knightley is Ravishing’

From showbizspy.com:

Sienna Miller says Keira Knightley is “ravishing”.

Miller — who stars alongside Knightley in new flick The Edge Of Love — reckons the pint-sized star is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood.

Sienna says, “Keira is just ravishing in every way, a goddess, and I adore her.

There’s no kind of rivalry. It’s Keira Knightley, you bite the bullet, you just deal with it.

Sienna, 26, also said there is no way she can compete with Keira in the looks department — no matter how much make-up she applies.

She adds to Britain’s OK! magazine, “There’s not enough make-up that can put you anywhere near that level.

But she is such a cool chick and she is so bright and lovely.

More news about ‘King Lear’

According with this article from showbizspy.com, Sir Anthony Hopkins has been confirmed as the new King Lear, and Naomi Watts will play the third sister :)

SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS has been confirmed as the latest actor to play KING LEAR in a big screen adaptation of SHAKESPEARE’s great tragedy.

American newcomer Josh Michael Stern has assembled an all-star cast for the ambitious film, which will start shooting in Britain or Ireland early next year (09).

Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Watts and Kiera Knightley will play the tragic king’s three daughters, and director Stern insists there will be many more suitable big-name surprises in his blockbuster.

He says, “It’s going to be really good… The one thing that I’m staying away from is stunt casting, so there won’t be the American comedian, but there will be some really great actors playing smaller roles that will make a lot of sense.

Stern also plans to stick to Shakespeare’s dialogue in the film in a bid to make sure the movie is as authentic as possible: “I’m not very fond of the modern adaptations… It’s pre-Roman, Celtic, very raw.

It’s a period in British history, from which (Lord of The Rings author) Tolkien took a lot of his inspiration, where there were thatched-roof roundhouses and fortresses.

Stern’s new Lear will give Hopkins the chance to revisit a character that won him acclaim on stage - the Oscar winner played the king in revered playwright David Hare’s King Lear production at the National Theatre in London in the late 1980s.

The director adds, “Hopkins is thrilled.

Keira: Singing live was terrifying

From This is Hull and East Riding:

Keira Knightley has described singing in her latest film The Edge Of Love as the scariest thing she has done in her life. In an interview with Lorraine Kelly on LK Today, Keira said she did all her own singing in the film, in which she plays a Blitz-time singer.

“It was the most terrifying thing I have done in my entire life. My knees actually nearly buckled, I was so nervous,” she told the show. Keira said the experience was made more scary by the fact that she had to sing to a room of 100 extras, when she thought she would be singing in playback. “It’s all about fake, and all of a sudden it was real, but it was good fun,” she said.

Sienna Miller also appeared on the show and she sang the praises of Keira’s mother Sharman MacDonald who wrote the script. “She writes really naturalistic, perfectly rhythmed, you know language you would actually say and conversation’s you’d actually have. I don’ think anything is hyperbolised,” she said.

Watson to replace Knightley for Chanel

According to PR-Inside.com:

Harry Potter star Emma Watson is set to replace Keira Knightley as the face of French fashion house Chanel - signing a reported $6 million (£3 million) contract.

Knightley has been the star of the advertising campaigns for premium fragrance Coco Chanel since 2006, but the actress’s contract expires this summer (08).
And bosses at Chanel have reportedly lined up 18-year-old Watson to take Knightley’s place.

A source tells British newspaper The Mail on Sunday, “Emma has been slowly integrated into the Chanel brand. They have been dressing her for film premieres and parties over recent months to see if she is the right fit.

“Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up.”
