So, most of you KK fans know that Keira’s mom is a playwriter… what you might not know is that Keira helps her mom come up with the ideas for the plays. I never knew this about Keira and was very excited to find out how creative Keira is!
Many of us are familiar with William Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”, but very few of us know what happened next. Set in a post-apocalyptic world in the near future, “After Juliet” explores the aftermath of “Romeo and Juliet”.
With a tense truce developing between the families of the deceased lovers, history appears to repeat itself with Romeo’s best friend, Benvolio, falling in love with Juliet’s cousin, Rosaline.
The twist? Rosaline is out for revenge.
Thought up by Keira Knightley and written by her mother, Sharman Macdonald, “After Juliet” will be directed by the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts (KLPAC) resident director, Kelvin Wong.
Targeted towards a young audience, the show will consist of a cast of 11, and will be showcased at KLPAC from the July 14 to 18.
Having made his directorial debut with “Mukabuku” in 2009, Kelvin has gone on to direct a variety of shows, including Arthur Kopit’s “Oh Dad, Poor Dad” and KLPAC’s newest sketch comedy, “Indicinelive!”
Tickets are priced at RM35 for adults and RM23 for students and the disabled. Preview night (July 14) is going at RM23. Groups can also buy eight tickets and get two free (not applicable on preview night).
To purchase tickets, call 03-4047 9000 or walk in to KLPAC, The Actors Studio @ Lot 10, Axcess headquarters, its 1-Utama or Alamanda Putarajaya outlet. For more information, visit www.klpac.org.
